ABOUT THE JOB

Equipped with massive amounts of data, automated analytics, and sophisticated building simulation technology, you will be charged with ensuring that savings opportunities are comprehensively identified and accurately evaluated. In addition, you will help ensure projects are properly implemented, issues are quickly diagnosed, and savings are maintained. Your engineering fundamentals, previous project implementation experience, and advanced controls knowledge will be fully utilized, both with internal development teams and external technical customers. Your feedback, ideas, and innovations will go directly into improving Bractlet’s processes and building energy analysis tools. As an internal champion for energy efficiency, you will have a lasting impact on Bractlet, the built environment, and the world.

ABOUT YOU

Degrees and Certifications

  • Required:
    • Bachelors in ME, ArchE, Architecture, or related programs
    • Professional Engineering license in the state of Texas
  • Preferred:
    • Masters degree in ME, ArchE, Architecture, or related programs
    • Applicable ASHRAE certifications (ex: BEAP, BCxP)
    • Applicable Association of Energy Engineers certifications (ex: EEP, CEM, CFM)
    • Applicable LEED certification(s) (ex: Green Associate, AP BD+C, AP O+M)

Skills

  • Required:
    • Able to easily explain advanced HVAC and engineering concepts
    • Adept at learning/using new technologies and software tools
    • Proficiency with Excel
    • Comfortable with moderate task switching while still meeting deadlines
  • Preferred:
    • Demonstrated ability to post-process large building data sets and identify key operational parameters via data mining
    • Basic understanding of programming languages and software development
    • Comfortable using modern team collaboration software tools (ex: Slack)

Professional Experience

  • Required:
    • 10+ years in the HVAC or building Energy Engineering industries
    • Able to identify retrofit/replacement opportunities for existing commercial buildings
    • Expertise in predicting savings, estimating costs, and analyzing payback for recommended savings opportunities
    • Experience in the design and implementation of retrofit/replacement projects nationwide
    • Proven experience qualifying energy savings from implemented energy projects, using all available data (utility, BAS, submeter)
    • Experience writing sophisticated sequences of operations for the control of building automation systems
  • Preferred:
    • Adept at building and managing customer relationships
    • Background in energy simulation and data analysis
    • Ability to self-manage and quickly assess timelines 
    • Experience in a cross-functional team environment

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Stay up-to-date on new building technologies as well as bring exciting new products into Bractlet’s savings measure pipeline
  • Develop standards for identifying any new savings opportunities 
  • Identify and ensure exhaustive energy savings opportunities for buildings
  • Work with product teams to standardize sequence of operations and quality assure them before implementation
  • Contribute to Bractlet’s savings measure, implementation cost, and equipment databases
  • Contribute to automating building analysis, savings measure identification, and savings measure analysis
  • Provide deep insight and answer complicated building questions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Directly interface with customers and provide guidance during all phases of our process — onboarding, bidding, implementation, verification, and continuous support
  • Quality assure energy savings and financial analysis

Energy Modeling Engineer

ABOUT THE JOB

At Bractlet, you will be building the world’s most sophisticated and accurate building energy models at lightning speed, allowing Bractlet’s customers to optimize their buildings and maximize their capital spend in marque commercial buildings in major cities across the country. Using Bractlet’s proprietary energy modeling software (built on top of Energy Plus) and data analysis tools, you will be an integral part of Bractlet’s Modeling team, working to develop highly accurate and predictive baseline and savings measure energy models at a building and equipment-level. Your understanding of energy modeling, energy systems, and advanced controls will be pushed as you develop energy models at a pace not currently seen in the industry. As a key member in the organization, your feedback, ideas, and innovations will go directly into improving Bractlet’s software and building energy analysis tools. Your contributions will have a lasting impact on Bractlet, the built environment, and the world.

ABOUT YOU

  • Degree in architectural, mechanical or civil engineering
  • Has 2+ years of applicable work experience with energy modeling software (e.g. E-Plus, DOE-2, IES) or 2+ years of work
  • Experience in mechanical system design, energy engineering, or building controls
  • Strong heat transfer, thermodynamic, and energy systems knowledge
  • Knowledge in building construction, HVAC and lighting systems
  • Ability to take balance collaboration and working independently
  • Comfortable adapting to new software tools
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, informal environment
  • Experience working within timelines
  • (Plus) Knowledge in building control strategies and high-performance design
  • (Plus) Be task-focused and have an ability to self-manage time engineering program 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop building simulations that are calibrated to historical equipment-level data and are highly predictive of future operations and energy consumption
  • Aid in the identification and optimization of energy savings measures
  • Simulate building/equipment/system optimizations and savings opportunities
  • Continuously improve existing customer simulations and evaluate new investment opportunities
  • Provide feedback to internal operations and software development teams
  • Help develop best practice documentation and promote the improvement of Bractlet’s energy modeling processes
  • Contribute to future resource and project planning by tracking your time on individual tasks and for specific projects
